I know I said I was committing January to cooking and eating healthy after the holiday eating binge. Apparently I don’t have much resolve when it comes to resolutions. (I also was going to go “on the wagon” for the month as well and promptly fell off on January 1. I guess, in that case, I never really got on the wagon.) But I had been good for the first 11 days of the month, so I thought a diversion would not completely derail my good intentions.
My friend Shane and I met in downtown Palo Alto for dinner to catch up post-holidays. We had tentatively decided to hit the newish Latin-inspired restaurant in town – Joya. We almost decided against giving it a try because a friend of Shane’s who had eaten there had said it was your typical pricey Palo Alto eatery where the food was okay but the portions were small. (That last point is moot, as you’ll understand shortly.) However, we decided that we were both more interested in trying something new rather than eating at the same ol’ places; so off to Joya we went.
